Flounder are a delicious fish that can be caught in a variety of ways, such as gigging, bottom rigs, and my personal favorite- a 1/8 ounce ball jig head with a chartreuse or white/pink curly tail grub. These can be bought cheaply at tackle shops almost anywhere.
Flounder are usually found very close to shore, usually 5-6 feet from the bank. Using your jig, work drop-offs and sandbars with slow pulls of 2-3 feet. As the lure approaches the bank, slow your retrieve and give more exaggerated action to the the jig by bouncing it higher in the water column. Occasionally, a flounder you hadn't seen at your feet will strike the lure on the surface.
Depending on the clarity of the water smaller hooks may be used to get more successful hooksets. A strip of cut mullet caught in a cast net makes an excellent addition to the lure as a tail.
Always obey local rules and regulations on size and bait.
